National Reading Incentive Program
motivates children in grades kindergarten through six
to read by rewarding them for their reading accomplishments.
Its purpose is to develop in children a lifelong love of reading.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE in the BOOK IT! Reading Program
Step1
At the outset of the program, the parent educator will set the monthly reading goals for each student. Goals can be number of books read, number of pages read, number of minutes read, etc. The goal can vary from month to month but the parent educator must decide what the goals are. For students not yet reading or have difficulty reading, you can set goals where parents or others read to them.
Step 2
You are encouraged to use the Progress Chart to track reading progress. (included in your packet)
Step 3
A soon as the student meets his or her monthly goal, notify the FRC by email (Subject Line: BOOK-IT 2007) and we will mail your student a pizza award certificate. Certificates should be filled out completely prior to visiting Pizza Hut. Each student can earn only one certificate per month. The student must be present when the certificate is redeemed. Certificates expire 30 days from date of issue. The pizza award certificate can be redeemed during normal business hours, seven days a week.
Step 4
The student brings the certificate to a participating Pizza Hut restaurant for a free, on topping personal pan pizza. The restaurant manager congratulates the student for meeting his or her reading goal and, on the first visit, presents the student with a colorful button and a sticker for the button to recognize reading achievements. On each subsequent BOOK IT! Visit, the student is rewarded with more praise, and another sticker.
The pizza award certificate should be redeemed with the child's individual family; they cannot be redeemed as a homeschool group.
If a student meets the reading goals in all six months of the program, he or she will receive a BOOK IT! All Star Reader Medallion With Neck Ribbon at Pizza Hut.
HOW TO REGISTER:
Request ONE packet per eligible child in your family only.
We cannot accommodate extended family or friends for these packets.
Please send 6 (six) self addressed stamped envelopes.
On the outside of EACH envelope write the number of
students and circle it.

Reserve your BOOK IT! packet ASAP WHILE SUPPLIES LAST
All Self Addressed Stamped Envelopes are returned to families
along with Book-It materials monthly, beginning late September.
NOTE: The Book-It program is FREE for FRC Members. If you do not want to mail us 6 SASE, we can register you for this program and charge you a service fee for using our stamps and envelopes. The fee would be $6.00 per family. Call 978-741-7449 to register or send us an email with authorization to charge your credit card on file.
